SOFT DOUGH PRETZELS
Makes 9 large pretzels
WHAT YOU NEED:
1 t. yeast
2 c. flour
1/2 t. salt
1 t. sugar
1 egg, beaten
coarse salt
EQUIPMENT YOU NEED:
large mixing bowl
dry measuring cups
liquid measuring cup
wooden spoon
cookie sheet, greased lightly with shortening
spatula
pastry brush
WHAT TO DO:
1. Wash your hands.
2. Fill sink (2") hot soapy water for clean-up.
3. Preheat oven to 450°.
4. In a large mixing bowl dissolve yeast in 3/4 c. warm water.
5. Add salt, sugar and flour. Stir with wooden spoon.
6. Turn out onto floured board, flour your hands and knead dough until smooth.
7. Make 9 pretzels. Roll into ropes with your hands and shape into letters or pretzels.
8. Place on greased cookie sheet, brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt.
9. Bake at 450° for 12-15 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet with spatula.
