Loaf Bread - Grandma Liz (Loaf bread is a heavier dough than sweet bread & is not as sweet.) Cook 2 potatoes in lots of water & use water. 1 Tablespoon salt + 4 cups water 4 Tablespoons shortening 4 Tablespoons sugar and 2 pkgs. yeast dissolved in 1/4 cup warm water. Put hot potato water, shortening, salt and sugar in large bowl, when warm add dissolved yeast. Add flour to make a stiff dough. Lots of kneading makes better bread.
