"Grandma Liz's Applesauce Cake" 1 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup butter 1/2 cup applesauce 2 beaten eggs 2 1/2 cups flour 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp cloves or pumpkin pie spice 2 tsp. soda 1 tsp. vanilla 1 cup raisins 1 cup nutmeats Topping 1/2 cup white sugar 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 2 tablespoons butter Cream butter & sugar to a cream. Add applesauce, add eggs & mix well. Add dry ingredients, mix well. Add vanilla. Bake 325° for ~40 mins. Topping is put on unbaked cake. Frosting for Carrot Cake, or Applesauce cake 3 oz. pkg. cream cheese (Philadelphia) 1/2 pkg. powdered sugar, about 1 c. 1/2 stick butter or less 2 1/2 teaspoon vanilla Beat all together with mixer till very creamy. Top with nuts if desired.
