Peppernuts - Christmas 2/1980 (Makes a gallon or so peppernuts) 2 cups sugar 1 cup dark kero 1 cup shortening 3 large eggs 1 cup sour cream 1 tsp. soda 1 " cinnamon 1 " anise oil 1 t cloves 1/8 " pepper ½ " cardamon or 1 teasp. nutmeg 7 to 8 cups flour (A stiff cookie dough stage) Warm syrup, shortening & sugar till shortening is melted and sugar is dissolved (cool). Mix in other ingredients. Roll out finger size rolls and cut small ½ inch pieces. Dough may be refrigerated, it will roll & cut better when cold, (over night) the dough will keep in covered pan for several days. Bake at 375 degree 8 to 10 min. (Christmas....) LIZZIE BECKER ABERDEEN, IDAHO MENONITE SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER "Chinese Noodle Candy" Grandma 2 - 6 oz pkg. choc chip bits 2 - 6 oz pkg. butterscotch bits 4 - 3 oz cans chinese noodles 2 - cups peanuts Mix all together after melting tiny bits and put on wax paper overnight to set - don’t cover them because it is easier for the children to find them submerged.
