Peanut Butter Cookies - Grandma Hilma Forsberg
1/2 cup shortening (if use margarine, omit salt)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white granulated (regular) sugar
1/2 teasp vanilla
1/2 teasp salt
1 egg
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 1/2 cup flour
1 teasp soda (baking soda)
Cream shortening and sugar. Add peanut butter, egg, vanilla (salt, baking soda & flour should be mixed well together before adding into the batter).
Chill cookie batter if dough chills several hours before baking.
Shape in balls and flatten with a fork. Bake 375° oven, 10-15 minutes.
These are wonderful and my Grandma made these for Daddy (Fritz) when he was a boy, and then for me as I grew up & then for our kids.
Favorite Rice Krispies confection! MARSHMALLOW TREATS
1/4 cup regular margarine or butter
6-10 ozs. regular marshmallows (about 40) or 4 cups miniature marshmallows
5 cups KELLOGG'S RICE KRISPIES cereal
1. Melt margarine in 3-quart saucepan. Add marshmallows and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until marshmallows are melted and mixture is very syrupy. Remove from heat.
2. Add RICE KRISPIES cereal and stir until well coated.
Press warm mixture evenly and firmly into buttered 13x9x2-inch pan. Cut into squares when cool.
YIELD: 24 (2-inch) squares.

Cream:
1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
3/4 t. salt
Add:
1 t. lemon or almond flavor
1 t. vanilla
4 x eggs
4 1/2 c. flour
1/2 t. baking powder
Baking 350° 10-12 min

mix food coloring & egg yolks
& use brush to apply before baking.
