Meat Balls + gravy
"Mama"
1 pound hamburger
6 soda crackers crushed fine
½ med sized onion (of those large white ones) finely chopped
½ teaspoon salt
⅛ teaspoon pepper + ½ teaspoon allspice
1 egg beaten with fork
¼ cup can milk
(over)
Mix all ingredients together thoroughly
Shape into balls a little larger than a walnut. Roll nice + round.
Brown in fat or bacon drippings if you have some. Do not flour before browning.
Pour 2 cups water over browned balls + simmer about 45 minutes. Thicken gravy with flour + water paste.
